Ester is about 5ft 6 inches (1.68m) in height, which is four inches taller than Levi and one inch shorter than Eren.

Ester's hair falls to her shoulder blades in very light waves. While it isn't that long, she still tries to make it more practical by splitting it into two neat plaits from the middle, tying the ends with (usually black) silk ribbons.

Teri's hair was almost golden in her early teenage years, but as she's grown older, it's dulled into more of a dark blonde. And, inevitably, she does have a few grey hairs starting to come through (Okay, loads of them. It really worries her. Grey is so not her colour).

Ester's height is pretty average for a woman, and coupled with her weight and lifestyle, she has an athletic figure with a moderate bust. She has toned thighs and a strong core from years of balancing herself on her 3DMG. Her hips aren't obvious, and neither is her waist, as they are in line with her shoulders, but she doesn't consider that a bad thing - with less curves on her body, she thinks it's probably easier to hold herself upright when travelling through the air. Besides, with her body shape she has a high metabolism and doesn't gain weight as easily, making her rather lean.

One on her right side of her face, almost spanning the entirety of her cheek, which looks like a splodge of paint. Years ago someone once told her that it made her resemble a "puzzle piece that doesn't quite match up".

Clothing (optional):
Her civilian clothes consist of mostly pretty, frilly dresses, because she likes to feel girly. Of course, Ester makes sure she is comfortably, but attractiveness takes priority where her clothes are concerned. She has an array of long, billowing coats, and mostly leather boots to go with everything, barring outfits for important social gatherings. During missions, training and basic work, Ester wears the standard military jacket and trousers with braces, and just a white button-down shirt underneath; a dark grey hoodie then goes over that, in case of chills, and obviously her cloak, which she basically always wears anyway, even at home.The only piece of jewellry she wears on the job, because of the risks of jewellry being used against them, is a tight leather bracelet that has small engravings of bears in it, which represent her sister (Ursula means "little bear"). This is for her own sake, as sort of a lucky charm.

Character-centric:
- After the "Fall Of Annie", Ester loses her memory due to a head injury and is forced out of action. Because of her hidden knowledge of the Survey Corps and it's leaders, she is manipulated by doctors and carers into taking on a new identity - one solely beneficial to their goals of bringing the Titans into Wall Rose.
- A small "gang" of homeless children congregate close to her home in the Karanese District. They watch her dogs when she's away, and in return she cooks meals for them when she returns home, and lets them sleep in her house. Most of the Survey Corps think she's nuts for doing it ("they could be dangerous!"), but she knows the truth; they're just kids who got the short straw in life far too early. And if she can help them out, even by just making sure they have one hot meal a day, then she knows they'll be okay. To tell the truth, she'd help them out even if they weren't around to watch her dogs, because she can't help but think of Levi every time she looks at them. They've even taken to calling her "Den-mother". Sure, once or twice she's caught a couple of the elder, tougher ones running off with her best china to flog, but the next day she'll give them some voluntarily, and it won't happen again. Her only rule is not to touch the dogs.
- She has a weird dislike for unnecessary swearing. "Unnecessary" being using it in a simple conversation without 'real' justification. "Justifications": when a person is emotionally compromised, drunk, or in mortal danger. Ester won't call people out on doing it though; she accepts that it's a "thing" for many people.
- Ester's obsession with dogs only developed after the death of her family. They're subconscious replacements.
- At the early beginning of 104's training, Ester visited the camp on Erwin's orders, in order to check out any potential recruits and answer any questions of their's; this is where she met Keith Shadis, and, although many of the recruits may not remember her, a large number of the Scouting Legion's future members. She only disrupted their training for a day or so, but she managed to get a good judgement on the type of characters interested in joining up, and just the general soldiers in general. Her time there features an interaction with one of the recruits, which should have dialogue from the scene in Captain America, where Peggy Carter is propositioned by one of the soldiers, and subsequently beats the ever-loving crap out of him. Ester could also help to fuel Benjamin Rothewell's interest in medicine during this visit.
- Ester's one of those irritating people who, when in an argument with somebody, will use pet-names, such as "honey", to mock them.
Relationship-centric:
- Erwin and Ester get married in secret soon after he loses his arm. Only a few trusted people witness it, because it's a.) more personal that way, and b.) safer, since if it was widely known to other military divisions and enemies, it would show weaknessesand unprofessionalism.
- Her first meeting with either Levi or Eren features an argument, and the "...stones throw away from being a serial-killer" section of dialogue from Supernatural episode 3.06 between Bela Talbot and Sam & Dean Winchester.
- Ester and Mike are practically drinking buddies.
- She's met Keith Shadis once or twice, and every time she's bowled over by his strong nature. Honestly, she admires him. Everyone knows the nightmares that Commanders and Leaders of the Survey Corps go through, and she's surprised he's as well put together as he is. She visited the trainees once to watch their progress, and report back to Erwin on any prospective future members, and spent most of her time, when not observing the recruits, listening to his stories.
- Ester has been in the pleasant company of Dot Pixis maybe 4 times in her life, and really, she absolutely adores the man. Sure, many of the things he says can be taken as perverted, but he's a real laugh to have a drink with, and the two of them have so much banter that it actually makes some of the other people in their presence uncomfortable. He always compliments her, but in a way that it would insult some women - she knows it's all done for jokes though. Perhaps the reason she likes him so much is because he reminds her of her late grandfather.
- Armin Arlert is an underappreciated wonder, in her eyes. For a boy to have gone through so much, and show so much mental stamina, and yet still not get the recognition he deserves because he isn't as "physically able" is beyond her logic. She sees a lot of herself in the kid, and tries to make him feel at home. Their first conversation ended with her lending him 7 books from her rather grand bookcase, and her giving him a spare key to the archives, for "research".
- Her first ever friendship was with a girl called Carla. They came from different districts, but their fathers knew each other, and therefore they would often get brought around the other's house. It's a good thing they liked one another, or else these forced meetings could have been rather awkward. They disagreed with each other on many subjects, like the military and what type of filling made the best sandwich, but were similar in just about enough ways to become lifelong friends. Ester visited often before joining the Scouting Legion, and even managed to attend her wedding to Grisha Yeager. They drifted apart over time as life pulled them in different directions - Carla had a baby, Ester had a death wish - and they were soon reduced to keeping in contact through mere letters.
Ester only saw their young son, Eren, perhaps twice in her life, and in one of her last letters to Ester, Carla had mentioned that they'd adopted another child into the family. She didn't feel particularly welcome coming to visit the Yeagers around their children, mostly due to the enthusiastic way Carla had described Eren's dreams of joining the Survey Corps in her letters. The last thing Ester wanted was to give the boy anymore leverage than his mother was happy with; she shouldn't interfere in another person's family. Ester was more than happy for them, but couldn't help but feel slightly...unsettled. Carla was very like her in many ways, and yet their lives were almost polar opposites. She was married with two children and a comfortable life, and, had Titans not existed, Ester thinks she'd have probably followed suit. Taking in Carla's death was hard, but she gained some satisfaction in knowing that a part of her carried on in her son, wherever he is.
- When members of 104 do eventually join the Survey Corps, Ester keeps her distance for a little while in order to let them settle into a routine around Headquarters. She makes her own impression onto them that first night that everyone congregates for dinner, by offering up her dessert to Sasha Braus, who had clearly been eyeing it from a few tables away. She was only doing it out of the goodness of her heart, but apparently that small act of kindness put her in good graces with the new soldiers, since they were less intimidated by her than the other senior soldiers, and were more likely to ask her about things and go to her in terms of passing on information.

Most people's first impression of Ester is that she's energetic, affectionate and restless. Despite her unobvious size, she is as physically agile as any other soldier, but she refuses to brag about things like "Kill Counts".
Reliable in a crisis, Ester is charitable to those in need and has a strong sense of social justice. She is dependable and generous to a fault, but like everyone she has a dark side. She doesn't believe in holding petty grudges, but if the situation is serious enough, she will take revenge she will do it both vindictively and viciously, resorting to violence if she must to get stuff done. Teri is not a natural leader, and doesn't revel being in a position of command when she has to take order, although she will step up and take action to the best of her abilities when called upon. Ester is quite a popular woman; well liked because of her fair, optimistic personality, she gains respect easily. She will resort to any methods to fulfil orders given to her, because she doesn't want to disappoint those who place their absolute trust in her.
While she isn't exactly pretty, Ester likes to keep herself trim so that she is always in peak fighting condition, and still takes a certain degree of pride in her appearance.
While she will happily take commands, Ester yearns for the day when she can just pack her bags and travel. If she ever gets the chance to, she wants to go on a journey across the world, and witness every fantastic site the eldest people in her District used to talk about. She doesn't believe in miracles though; she thinks she'll be lucky if she lives beyond the age of 50.
Ester has great endurance and enthusiasm, despite the horror of her job, because she honestly believes there is hope out there for future generations, and that the Corps' sacrifices will mean something in the end. When it comes to stamina, Ester is one of the best. Versatile in her skills, Teri's sharp mind can adapt to almost any environment, which is good considering how swiftly she has to make judgments. Ester tends to repress her anger, and while this is unhealthy - she's into medicine, she knows these things - she reckons that it's probably better than having a consistently frustrated doctor on hand. This does results in the odd blowout at times.
Teri is a complete social-butterfly, and loves to meet new people. She has a witty and creative sense of humour, but never intends to offend anyone with what she says, so tries to keep her jokes nice. While Ester has very high morals and has heard every "stranger danger" story possible, she still trusts far too easily.
Ester is "The Mother" of the Recon Corps, and has built up a bit of a reputation. The newer recruits are often subject to her well-meant smothering. For example; if it is her turn to take Eren to his cell at night she will always slip him an extra blanket and pillow; Ester makes sure Levi's shirts are always double-folded and at the top of the pile before the laundry is delivered; if anybody ever needs a shoulder to cry on, she will immediately offer up some tea to talk over. She enjoys making the others feel safe, and she is the type of person who always needs a purpose and a job to do or else they become antsy. This loving behaviour to her friends also unfortunately means that she takes her fellow soldiers' deaths hard each and every time they happen, and being a doctor doesn't make things any easier when there is no way to do the job you were trained to do.
As anyone could guess, Ester is very protective, almost constantly watching out for her older brother, whom she considers the one true link she has to her old life. Which is why she can empathise with Ackerman on some level - though she doesn't insist on protecting him quite as much as the younger lady does with Eren (Acke's cozy position in the Military Police soothes her nerves). He was never the same after their family's deaths, andshe doesn't want her older brother to morph into someone even less recognizable. Since she is so terrified of losing anyone else in any way, Ester isn't planning on having children anytime soon, maybe not even at all, as she doesn't want them to live in the same world she does.
Teri never has a bad word to say about others, believing that what goes around comes around in some weird and unnecessary circumstances. She tries to be selfless and good, and succeeds most of the time, but she'd never deny that it can be hard work when all you want to do is wallow in your own despair at times. For this reason, she is open and warm and doesn't try to keep secrets.
Ester is very polite, speaking to her superiors with titles unless in private. However, she believes that "everyone bleeds the same", and so treats the recruits with the same kindness she shows her higher ups. Ester enjoys physical affection, like hugs and hand-holding, but she doesn't personally feel the need for intimacy. Not that she's ever really been intimate before with someone, but she can imagine it isn't that great. Ester isn't a prude though, and when the rare opportunity arises wherein someone is actually interested in her, she'll let them down gently and resume playful banter. Basically, she's a straight up virgin, but don't tell anyone.
When she walks into a room, she brightens it with a dull smile and kind eyes, and that pretty much sums Ester up in a nutshell.

Memory:
She's pretty proud of her memory. If anything it's improved over the years; she practically has her medical books memorised word for word, and her practised routine leaves no room for doubt in her life. When it comes to less important things, however, information does sometimes slip her mind.
Sight:
Ester used to have amazing vision, being able to spot a daisy from over 50 metres above. Unfortunately, though, because of old age and years spent squinting at small print, her eyesight has declined - but don't count her out just yet. She's not going to need glasses for a long time to come.
Mental:
Ester considers herself relatively sane. "Relatively", since she isn't an idiot and is fully aware of the psychological repercussions this job has; she's witnessed enough of her friends lose their minds from the strain of it, and she's had to exhume more than enough corpses of people who'd just had enough of this world. Her sleeping patterns are screwed to hell, the sight of death doesn't shock her half as much anymore, and Ester's obsession with dogs is enough to scare away any potential men (not that she'd ever know what to do in a relationship anyway), but apart from that, she's just dandy.
Physical:
From years of training and experience, Ester is just as strong as any other solider, although she might not look or act like it. One of her highest statistics is Martial Arts for a reason; anyone who claims she can't hold herself in a fight will get a boot to the face.
Sleep Patterns:
Ester often goes for days without sleeping, simply because she forgets to. She becomes so focused on the tasks she has to complete that she becomes absorbed in them, barely remembering to eat until she gets them done. Wasted time = wasted lives, even if she's just filling out paperwork. For this reason, when she has a few days off, Ester will spend a over 1/2 of it just sleeping; she has a lot to catch up on, after all. She's a light sleeper, but not a fidgety one, despite her hyperactive nature. Most of the time, she'll wake up in the same position she fell asleep in - facing the door on her side, one arm on the pocket knife she keeps under her pillow.

Dorothea and Ester shared perhaps the stablest relationship within the family. They never fought (disregarding typical sisterly tiffs), and they shared the same sense of humour and material tastes. Her older sister was, if possible, even more of a dreamer than herself, yet also far more realistic. She and Ester were as close as possible when they were young, and this never changed, even as adults. They always wrote to each other, telling their sister about their lives - everything from the smallest piece of gossip about the king, to their largest problems regarding life.
Ester never quite understood just why her and Dorothea were so close, because they didn't have the same goals in life, but perhaps that was just fate. You can't help what personality traits you value after all, and it seemed that compassion and patience appealed to Ester most, especially as a kid. Dorothea wasn't particularly happy to see her second-to-littlest sister run off and join the military, but she never questioned it. At the end of the day, she wanted her sister to be happy, and if this was what she wanted, she'd support her. Dorothea never really stopped being a child at heart. She was the apple of their parents' eye, and the one who brought the most pride to the family name (a massive stab in the back to Elis), and she never even tried - she was just that kind of person.
One problem Ester did recognise within her darling sister, was Dotty's apparent obsession with finding Ester a man - "Someone to look after you when I can't!" She was just trying to keep her safe, Ester reasoned, even if she was irritatingly implying that Ester couldn't handle herself. But then again, Dott was the image of a perfect housewife - doting, loving, like something out of a fairy tale.
Roderick was her boyfriend before he even went off to join the Military Police, and when he was accepted into them, it was only logical for Dorothea to move with him to Wall Sine. Ester was more than happy about it - it was the kind of place her sister would thrive in. Of course, she did punch Elis in the face at their wedding, which Dotty was upset about, but apart from that, Roderick and her relationship was seemingly hitch-less. They had a child, and Dot's life was almost beautifully fulfilled; if only she hadn't been visiting her parents at the time of Wall Maria's break.
Ester lost many people in that day, and Dotty's death, she thinks, hit her hardest. Not only was it so horrifically unlucky that she would have chosen that time to visit Wall Maria in the first place, but with her kind-natured disposition, and not to mention her son and husband's ruined lives - there was no justice in it. Dorothea was a rock to many people, and Ester misses her dearly.
Elis Dahl (39; Military Police) - Brother - Alexander Skarsgard - Germany/Ludwig (Hetalia)
Ester always admired her brother. She'd practically idolised him since she was able to walk, constantly following him around and trying to copy everything her heroic big brother did. And he sincerely was her hero for absolutely ages. To Ester, Elis could do nothing wrong. She knew he had flaws; he was arrogant, selfish and argumentative, but cared for her immensely, even if carrying around an excitable little girl in his arms did nothing but make him seem soft. As the two of them got older, rather than drift apart, they became even closer. Ester wasn't going to stalk him anymore, but they didn't mind spending hours together just talking. He introduced her to books, and practically guided the way for her entering the military with his constant talk of the Military Police. When he went off to train, Ester hoped that he would achieve his dream, even if she hadn't outright told her older brother that she'd rather follow in the footsteps of the Survey Corps than the Military Police. Low and behold, he came within the Top 10 of his class and went straight off to Wall Sine to protect the King, just as he'd always wanted. Quite naively, she'd hoped to recieve the same excited congratulations she'd written to him in return when she completed her own training and joined the Survey Corps, but it didn't really work out like that. No, instead, Elis wrote to her with the demand that she forget his address. Ester didn't bother writing to him again for a while.
The first time they spoke again after that was when the whole family met for Dorothea and Drake's wedding. He said she was throwing her life away and wouldn't hear against it. She broke his jaw. Dorothea and their parents claimed that the wedding have been ruined. Josef called it progress, and an exciting twist to the otherwise dull day. Thankfully that event had appeared to break the metaphorical elephant in the room between Ester and Elis, and afterwards, they were able to talk without wanting to say anything snide or punch the other's lights out. He still thought he was better than her, and she thought he was too big for his boots, but apart from that, they were pretty much back to normal. They carried on as usual, occasionally seeing each other at family gatherings or her visits to Wall Sine, until the break of Wall Maria. News travels fast, and Ester wrote to him immediately, telling him to meet her at the hospital Acke was being kept in as soon as possible. He did, and for one shining moment she saw the concern for family he'd been lacking. Until she explained the situation to him.
Acke was the only one in their family who'd managed to get on a boat; they were the only Dahls left. Ester could see the change in him happen right in front of her eyes, and could do nothing to stop it.
Elis refused to see Acke. She screamed at him for 23 straight minutes, trying to persuade the man to go inside the ward and say goodbye to his brother because "You won't get another chance". All he did was tell Ester that he didn't have a brother, not anymore, and then he left her to go back to tending Acke in his final moments. She never forgave him for that. Ester doesn't dare mention their brother in front of Elis now; she doesn't know what he'd do. After their family's death, they lived together in Wall Sine for a short amount of time, but it was both impractical for Ester's job and awkward. Each of them knew that something had altered their dynamic after the blowout at the hospital, and not for the better. So, she packed up her things and left. He didn't try and stop her. They still write to one another, but personal visits are few and far between. He could have children now and she wouldn't have the slightest clue.
He's not her brother anymore. He puts his life on the line for the King, but in the past, he'd lived for his family. Once, he confessed to her that he'd rather like to just fire a bullet straight through his skull and end it all. And sometimes, just sometimes, Ester wishes he would too - for his own sake.
Acke Dahl (Deceased) - Brother - Bill Skarsgard - Norway/Lukas Bondevik (Hetalia)
Acke was spoiled. There was no other way to put it. Of course, Ester loved her littlest brother - God knows, she loved him, but he wasn't one to appreciate what he had until it was gone. He was quieter than his other siblings; more gentle, as well. He often tired of their constant fighting and constriction, and would seek out Ester, who'd be down at the market, bartering with some shopkeeper over the price of a necklace. He'd inevitably get bought a present, and they'd sit and talk by the riverbed about the future while eating ice cream. Acke was actually the only member of the Dahl family to make it onto a boat and into Wall Rose. Unfortunately, he'd been seriously injured in the scramble to get away, and lived just long enough to die in a hospital bed with Ester by his side. Ester's been asked, over the years, if she has ever though of her brother as a coward for ditching her family in favour of catching a boat. She replies that Acke was the smartest in the family, and that she'd given him orders as a boy to follow no matter what; "If that wall ever breaks - if it ever even cracks, then you run to a boat. You don't take anybody, you don't wait around and try to help the rest of the family, you just get to a boat, and you join me in Wall Rose." And that's exactly what he'd done. But to this day, Elis still won't talk about him.
Ursula Dahl (Deceased) - Sister - Ella Wahlestedt - Ino Yamanaka (Naruto)
If there's one thing that Ester is openly sorry about, it's that she ran off to start training before she really knew her youngest sister. She never got to know her real likes and dislikes, her first crush - she never even got to find out the girl's favourite food. Despite how little they knew each other though, Ursula still idolised Ester with everything she had. She'd apparently been influenced by her big sister's care-free attitude, and wanted nothing more than to scale the walls and see what was out there, despite her parents telling her it was wrong. And if her big sister was going to help do that for her, then she wanted nothing more than to help! And Ester had actually told her enough times, "I'm doing this for you. You're gonna get to go everywhere I can't." Ester's still fighting for her little sister's dreams, and has all her old drawings in a shoe box under her bed. Why Ursula couldn't have lived to see the sea just once is a great mystery to Ester; why was life so unfair? She just hopes Ursula's still smiling, wherever she is.

A member of the Garrison within Wall Rose. He was married to Dorothea before her death, and the two of them had one son together. He has never remarried. Roderick and Ester don't dislike each other - he simply doesn't want talk to her. It brings up bad memories for him.
Mikael Drake (20; Trainee) - Nephew - Garrett Hedlund - Ukyo (Brothers Conflict)
The son of Roderick and Dorothea; Ester's nephew. She's only met him a few times, sparsely. He's a handsome young man, but he has an extreme ego-issue, and he doesn't remind her of Dorothea in the slightest. She isn't sure what to make of him - but he just considers her to be "...the crazy aunt with all the dogs and the desire to become titan food, who sometimes brings over cake".
Josef Norling (Deceased) - Grandfather - Max von Sydow - Tanaka (Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji)
Ester's maternal grandfather. An eccentric old man who favoured his Granddaughters over his Grandsons, because they weren't, "- so stuck up their own backsides that they can't see straight" and they "...didn't look half as much like their father". He was a bit of an ass to most people, but Ester loved him anyway. He encouraged her to join the Survey Corps when most of her family didn't. She still has his old walking-stick somewhere in her house, even if the dogs have chewed it unrecognisably. He died before Wall Maria's breach due to natural circumstances.
Allies:
Survey Corps. 104th Trainee Squad. She could also probably call upon the help of a few underground networks if she needed to, because of links through the children she helps.
Notable Relationships:
Ester's spent her life in the company of extraordinary people, and while, clearly, her family, and the events that have surrounded them over the years continue to alter the structure of her life in the present day, Ester's existence doesn't rotate around them anymore. Instead, she focuses on work, and her friends.
Naturally, the bond she shares with fellow Scouting Legion members is vital to her, because their lives all rely on the cooperation and trust of each other. Her dearest friends are those she has helped and been helped by countless times in the past. Commander Erwin Smith, Levi Ackerman, Hanji Zoe, Mike Zacharias, Arielle Lefevre, Nathaniel Constantine, and a great number of other soldiers are dear enough that she trusts more than her life with them. Future members will undoubtedly become as important to her, if not more so. Ester has already bonded with a few odd kids from Trainee Squad 104.

Apart from Titans, obviously, Ester wouldn't be able to name anything else that she feels real hatred toward. Sure, things are tense between Elis and her, but they aren't enemies. Even around other military divisions, whose majority of members think they're better than her, Ester wouldn't label them as the enemy - merely differently opinionated. However, after Annie Leonhardt's betrayal { and, depending on whether we follow manga events, Reiner and Bertolt's }, Ester finally has a definition of whom she considers "the enemy"; those who mock her trust and harm humanity's chances of survival whilst doing so.
Hero(es):
As a child, Ester would have listed her heroes off as Elis, and her Grandfather. But life changes things - especially perspectives. Off the top of her head, and she means it truthfully, Ester would now proudly state that her heroes are her fellow comrades. To her, if a person is willing to put their life on the line for humanity, and subsequently, her, then she'll treat that person as if they're royalty. All it takes is arrogance to claim how you would defeat your demons, but actual bravery to go out and do it; the soldiers she works with have all proven themselves to possess true courage more than enough times for her to admire them.
Rival(s):
Ester doesn't have any rivals - at least, none that she's consciously acknowledged. In the workplace, she feels confident in her abilities to thoroughly complete her job, so it isn't at stake for the time being. She doesn't worry about those she mentors or helps (such as Benjamin Rothwell, or Nathaniel Constantine) taking her position, because her superiors would obviously have a good reason for replacing her if it ever came to that, and she wouldn't really mind losing out to somebody more deserving.
Within her family, there was always the typical "Who is the favourite child?" question that wasn't taken seriou- (it was Dorothea. Nobody else had a chance. It was always Dorothea, with Elis as a close second. Some people are so under appreciated) -sly, but there was a general animosity between Elis and Ester - the two "military kids" - over who was doing the best for humanity. And in her love-life... Well, she doesn't really have a love-life. If she did though, that is the only area Ester would fall down in. Because, aside from an extensive knowledge on blood clotting, what does she have to offer that nobody else does?
